Nottingham Ridewise visited SHS to Deliver a Cycling Proficiency and Safety Workshop
Two members of the team arrived with helmets, cones and their own bikes to demonstrate the skills and techniques necessary to complete the workshop. Eight students from Key Stage 3-4 were involved in listening and observing demonstrations and talks about a range of cycle proficiency issues such as: helmet safety, applying brakes, signalling, brake control, safely looking over your shoulder and cycling techniques and control.

The students were then given lots of opportunities to demonstrate these skills and their cycling ability. The workshop lasted for two lessons with most of the school bikes being used, as they had recently been fully serviced and were in full working order. This was a brilliant opportunity for students to meet the Ridewise team and be involved in a workshop that provides them with the knowledge and experience to be safe when cycling.

The Ridewise team were incredibly complimentary about the effort, ability and participation displayed by the students. Well, done to all involved. The following students have successfully completed a Level 1 in Bikeability training. Certificates and badges will be handed out during the Road Safety assembly next half-term. So, congratulations to: Theo Henshaw, Mason Brierley, Ethan Barnes, Alfie Evans, Ethan Souden, Thomas Moody, Ethan Dejewski-Fletcher
