Six Students represented SHS in an inclusive running event

July 3, 2025
On the 3rd of July 2025 six students represented Sutherland House School in an inclusive running event at Harvey Haddon Stadium in Bilborough, Nottingham.
The students ran with a familiar member of staff, and at times ran independently, we all wore red vests so that we were clearly identifiable. Each student ran around the 400-metre track and collected a sticker after each successful lap. One lap was a bronze, two silver and three represented a gold sticker. All the students successfully ran the three laps and therefore collected a gold sticker!
All the students ran additional laps with three running a total of five laps! A brilliant effort was displayed by all the students, and they should be very proud of their efforts, especially in the heat we have been experiencing! All the students had plenty of water to keep them hydrated and snacks for their energy. The running track was very busy with over 100 students representing over ten schools.

The event was a great success, and this is the sixth occasion we have entered a team. We look forward already to next year’s inclusive running event.
Well done to all those involved, all the staff are proud of your efforts.
Students who ran on the day were: Jamie, Cameron, Mckenzie, Jacob, Kurt and Thomas from Key Stage 2 and 3.
