Safeguarding

All staff at Sutherland House School listen to students and try to make sure they are safe and understand about making safe choices.

Sutherland House 40

At Sutherland House School, we safeguard the wellbeing of our pupils by ensuring they feel safe, can communicate and be listened to.

Staying safe is:

  • What people choose to say and do
  • What others say and do to me

Sometimes people make choices that mean they are unsafe.

Sometimes people feel unsafe because of what someone else does.

Students can tell staff if they feel unsafe somewhere or with someone. Small class sizes also means that staff get to know pupils well, which enables them to recognise even the smallest change that may indicate abuse, identify concerns early and provide help for our pupils to prevent concerns escalating.

Every member of staff within Sutherland House School will play their part in safeguarding our vulnerable pupils, including in working in partnership with parents, carers, and colleagues from other agencies.
