Doughnotts visit offers students a chance to decorate their very own sweet treats

We were pleased to recently welcome Doughnotts to Sutherland House School for a special treat that students could enjoy.

Students were led into a classroom, where the smell of chocolate and dough lingered in the air as their instructor began the session.

Doughnotts is a Nottingham-based provider of doughnuts in Nottingham, which began as a small enterprise but soon grew as they discovered that people had a fondness for decorating their own doughnuts.

After a quick presentation on how doughnuts were made, students were given the freedom to sprinkle a variety of different ingredients on their doughnuts, mixing in chocolate and frosting as they liked.

As our Marketing team ascended the stairs to the classroom to see what our students were getting up to, several students came barrelling out of the classroom.

They all carried paper bags full of doughnuts they'd made themselves, with looks of pride on their faces as they continued their school day.

Eager not to miss out on the fun, our Marketing Apprentice Jacob even had a go crafting his own Doughnotts treats!

Watching the smiles on our students' faces as they returned to their lessons with bags full of sweet treats reminded us why individualised support is so important.

When a student is in control of their own decisions, whether it is how they spend their time, where they do their work or even as small as how they want their doughnut to look and taste, it enables students to feel empowered and to embrace their time in school, knowing that their choices and how they engage will make a difference.

We're glad to see that students enjoyed themselves, and hope they save a doughnut or two for us!
