Students perform 'Lion King' Christmas play

- School
December 26, 2024
Sutherland House School students recently performed their Christmas play which was inspired by the Lion King.
The performance was the result of months of planning from both staff and students, and included dozens of props from wildebeest masks to meerkat costumes.
Students from across all classes were invited to take part and parents were invited to the final performance which took place in the dance hall at Sutherland House School.
The performance received lots of praise and feedback from parents, especially as everything from banners to masks to set pieces have been crafted and designed by the students with support from staff.
"So proud of Charlotte for organising it with all the staff and children."
"All the students were amazing, well done so proud of you all"
"The students were absolutely wonderful and have worked extremely hard, proud of all of them."
"We're so proud of all the students! You all worked so hard and had so much fun too!"

We're so proud of all the students that took place in this year's school play, and very pleased with the work of our Sutherland House School teaching and non-teaching staff, who all played a role in ensuring that our annual play was the best that it could be.
How does the person-centred approach support activities such as our school play?
Our person-centered approach means that activities such as our Christmas play are not a mandatory requirement for students, which makes their participation all the more meaningful.
Some students were very eager to assist with creating props, others enjoyed dancing and being on stage.
We value each student's contribution and allow them the space and freedom to explore their own individuality, and we're very proud to see the enthusiasm that our students brought to this performance.
