Five students from SHS were invited to the David Ross Sports Centre at Nottingham University to participate in the all-inclusive SEN sports day.

This event was organised by Nottingham Active under the title of 'Believe, Move, and Achieve.' Each activity the students took part in had the theme based around resilience, communication and social skills.

There were four activities rotated during the day with two schools sharing each workshop. We were partnered with Bracken Hill.

The first activity was Sitting Volleyball where the students were introduced to the key concepts of moving whilst sitting and different ways to strike the ball.

The students were supported by trained University staff to access the climbing wall with auto belays and harnesses. This activity tested the student’s relationship with heights and was very physically demanding.

The final session was Boccia with the students being introduced to three different activities.  We played as a group with red and blue team.  This was a fantastic conclusion to the day with 100% participation rate from the school.
